Ubisoft unveiled new IP, Watch Dogs at E3, with an impressive debut trailer…

In one hell of a remarkable announcement trailer, Ubisoft has revealed a new IP in the form of Watch Dogs. This incredibly slick third person action title will incorporate a whole slew of gaming mechanics, including cover-based, contextual combat, vehicle control and, at the core of the game, a hacking system.

This system, which is demonstrated in the trailer, will include the ability to dynamically hack mobile phones to listen in on calls, disrupt communications (used here to gain covert entry into a building), and even to stop traffic, as demonstrated in the clip with devastating results.

The game looks to be a mix of GTA, Assassin’s Creed and Hitman, and that’s one roster of influences that gets this writer more than a little excited. The presentation is slick as you like too, with seamless transition from cut scenes to gameplay, and some solid voice work thrown in, not to mention superb visuals.

Watch Dogs, by the looks of it, could well be a very big thing when it arrives, and we’re going to be keeping a very close eye on this one. For now, take a look at the announcement trailer below.

This game looks EXTRAORDINARY. Unfortunately, as impressive as its visuals are, they were demonstrated on a high-end PC, so 360 and PS3 owners will have to recalibrate their expectations. But there's no release date for this as yet, so by the time we see it in the shops it may also be available for next-gen consoles. All in all, power PC owners have much to look forward to. As for the rest of us muggles: less so.
