Halo 3: just one expansion
Simon Brew
The newly announced Halo 3: Recon is not going to be the first of many expansions for the Xbox 360 hit
After Bungie confirmed its first expansion to Halo 3, entitled Halo 3: Recon, it’s also moved quickly to dampen any thoughts that this may be the first in a series.
Halo 3: Recon isn’t going to be out for another year yet, and we know that it’ll be a standalone expansion pack (i.e. you won’t have to own the original Halo to be able to play it). To quote Microsoft’s fact sheet on the new release, “The new campaign chapter predates the events that unfold in ‘Halo 3’ and gives players a new perspective through the eyes of a new hero in the ‘Halo’ universe. New multiplayer maps ensure that the award-winning Xbox LIVE experience of ‘Halo 3’ continues to thrive.”
But anyone expecting more? Bungie has now said that this will be a one-off, and will presumably be focussing its attention on either a full blown Halo 4, or a new game altogether. We’ll keep you posted.
And don’t forget to check out what's become the Halo 3: Recon trailer here.
