Xbox 360 falls below £100, Wii under £150

It ain't a bad time to buy yourself a new games console, thanks to a new supermarket promotion...

The recent raft of price cuts on the Xbox 360 console announced by Microsoft had already taken the entry level cost of the Arcade unit down to a tasty £129. This made it the cheapest console of the current generation on the market, undercutting the Wii by a cool £50. The fact that this particularly version lacks a hard drive shouldn’t be overlooked, of course, but it’s still a good deal for a good machine.
However, enter stage left the supermarkets. Because Sainsbury’s has now announced that it’ll be running a price promotion on games console hardware in a brand new promotion that’ll be running through until October 12th. The deal will chop the cost of an Arcade 360 to £99.97, and also coming down is the price of the Xbox 360 Premium – replete with 60GB hard drive – to £139.97.
Furthermore, the Nintendo Wii – which has never yet had a manufacturer price cut – is coming down to £149.97, knocking £30 off the price. With no further price cuts on the machines expected this side of Christmas, it might be worth doing the old festive shopping early…
