Release date latest: the fine folks over at SFX reckon they've spotted the UK release date on a trip to their local Tesco! The Blu-ray and DVD of Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been advertised for release on 18th April. A digital release is likely a few weeks before that.

It looks like the official box art and list of extras for Star Wars: The Force Awakens has landed. This little lot popped up at Walmart's website in the US (via Stitch Kingdom), before being quickly removed. But here's what we can expect. Box art first...

We're still hearing an April release for the disc, and an iTunes release possibly as early as March 15th. None of this has been officially confirmed yet, but we'd imagine it will be in the coming days.

There's been no official announcement as of yet regarding the DVD and Blu-ray release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. But a brief slip by Amazon in the US might just have given us a big clue as to when to expect it.

As the excellent The Digital Bits reported, listed the street date for the movie as the 5th of April, before quickly yanking said date down again. Amazon's Canadian site separately listed the same date, too, taking a little longer to remove it.

A DVD release and a two-disc Blu-ray pack are listed, and retailers have been taking pre-orders for Star Wars: The Force Awakens since the movie was released. Disney is expected to make a formal announcement about the disc release shortly, and it'll confirm the release date then. Expect the UK and US release dates to tally closely together.

As of yet, there's no word as to whether it'll also appear on the new Ultra HD Blu-ray format, which would be a major shot in the arm for the new tech if it did.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens continues to play in cinemas worldwide. It is making lots of money.
