The return of Captain America
Robert Mclaughlin
For anyone who isn't up to date on events in the Marvel Universe, we've just spoiled the end of Civil War for you. Oh well, time to move on... is Captain America back from the dead?
Over the past few weeks Marvel have been hinting at a big story involving Alex Ross (who will be returning to Marvel next year with a much anticipated Invaders series). Finally, the House of Ideas revealed the story... and blimey, is it a biggie.
Yup, it looks like the Marvel universe will be getting one of its most iconic characters back. Your eyes do not deceive you - that's Captain America.
But wait, isn't he dead? Well, one thing that Marvel is making clear is that this is a new Cap. It's not Steve Rogers - he's still pushing up daisies - this is a return for the Cap, but who he is under the mask, well...
Writer Ed Brubaker has revealed that the notion of a new Cap has been swimming around his mind for a few months and that this new character (whoever he is) will be hitting shelves exactly one year after the death of Steve Rogers.
So what do you think? Does the costume tweak do it for you, do you think that Cap should have a knife and a gun, do you think it's really Bucky under the mask? We'll see you in the comments.

Re: The return of Captain AmericaCaptain America doesn't need a gun and a knife! This has to be some sort of evil impostor. Though it might be interesting to see Cap as a villain.... hmm. | |
Re: The return of Captain AmericaA gun? A knife? Capt America doesn't need such thuggish weapons surely? Not a proper superhero like him.
...Batman maybe, Batgun, Batknife, Bat-bloody-Bullet proof vest. But this isn't Design and Technology. Back to your mansion Wayne, BACK! No, gun and knife bad. |
