Halloween: The First Death of Laurie Strode announced!

A new series of comics seeks to expand on the background of the popular Halloween horror movie franchise...

I’m really much more of a Nightmare on Elm Street girl, so this isn’t quite my thing – but if you’re a fan of the Halloween movies, you might want to check out the comic book series, published by Devil’s Due Publishing.

Writer Stefan Hutchinson – director of Halloween: 25 Years of Terror – got in touch to let us know that the second series is on its way. But don’t be put off if you didn’t read the first series of comics, since this has apparently been planned as an ideal jumping-in point for new readers. Halloween: The First Death of Laurie Strode is set in 1979, and fits into Halloween continuity after the first two movies, filling in a lot of previously unexplained backstory.

Hutchinson’s writing is illustrated by Jeff Zornow, an artist who’s worked on comics including Gene Simmons’ House of Horrors and Vampirella Magazine, as well as creating designs for Fright Rags t-shirts. The first issue is pencilled in for a late September release.

While you’re waiting for that, you can check out the first series of Halloween comics, Halloween: Nightdance, which is released in trade paperback form this week.

Find out more from the Devil’s Due Publishing website; see more about Halloween comics; or, read more from Stefan Hutchinson on what the Halloween franchise means to him here.
