The Star Wars Cookbook

Is this the best film tie-in ever? Damn straight! Mark's been checking out the Star Wars Cookbook....

Hollywood has long been privy to the concept of the movie tie-in. From partnerships with well-known burger chains to countless toys coming to a department store near you, it’s a market that the industry has taken full advantage of, none more so than in recent years.
While many of these tie-in products are thoughtless reincarnations of the same products time and time again (Burger King’s The Dark Knight/Spider-man 3 campaign proved that with embarrassing results), every now and again a product comes out that warrants your full attention.
Such a product is the Star Wars Cookbook.
Released in 1998, the book contains over 25 genuine recipes, all laid out over wipe-clean pages. Nothing special about that, I hear you ponder. But just listen to some of the recipe titles:
Hoth Chocolate
Oola-la French Toast
Han-burgers
Wookiee Cookies
Darth Vader Dark Chocolate Sundaes
Yoda Soda
Greedo’s Burritos
Tusken Raider Taters
Twin Sun Toast
Obi-Wan Kebabs
Boba Fett-uccine
This is truly genius stuff and the food itself is passable (my brother owns a copy).
There is a second edition with recipes based around the prequel trilogy (Qui-Gon Jinn-ger Snaps, anyone?) but as with the films, the originals are the best.
