24: Two more years
Simon Brew
More news from over the pond, as the season for renewing TV shows continues. And there's more Bauer to look forward to (?) as a result...
Published on May 17, 2007
It’s now been confirmed that 24 will run to season eight, and herein lies the problem. The strength of 24 has, to some degree, been its willingness to do anything to pull the rug from under your feet, from bombs, killing major characters, stunning plot twists and sheer energy. Except one thing: Jack, as we all know, is indestructible, save inevitably for a noble death at the end of how many movies they make.
Season five worked in part because it sidelined Jack for good chunks of it. And in spite of the fact that he’s the best character in it, for 24 to remain in any way vital for two more years, surely that’s what’s got to happen?
Bet it doesn’t, though…

For a long time 24 was my favourite show, and Jack Bauer my hero. But this season has been quite silly and now I only seem to be watching it as something to do before Lost comes on.
Let's hope they do a reboot for season seven.

What they have to do to right 24 is to stop letting CAIR have script approval.
