Alan Moore’s Neonomicon

Written by Alan Moore, the Cthulhu-inspired comic Neonomicon is coming later this year…

British writer Alan Moore is world-renowned for his sharp, satirical and often political scripts for such comics as V For Vendetta, Watchmen and The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen.

After a lengthy gestation period, Alan Moore's Neonomicon, a work inspired by the writings of the reclusive 30s horror writer, H. P. Lovecraft, is finally due to appear in August. Inked by American artist Jacen Burrows, who has worked with Alan Moore before on the similarly Lovecraftian The Courtyard, Neonomicon takes Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos and gives it a modern spin.

"The story centers on an FBI team investigating a spree of grisly crimes that started at the end of the Courtyard," Jacen Burrows told Bleeding Cool earlier this week. "The story features a brilliant deconstruction and modernization of the H. P. Lovecraft world as only Alan Moore could do it.

"And believe me, Lovecraft channelled through Alan Moore is a dark, disturbing, mind warping thing. Those unfamiliar with Lovecraft or the Courtyard should still find it an intensely affecting work of horror."

Neonomicon issue one is due to appear in comic shops this August, and is published by Avatar Press.
